Counter-Strike Beta vs 1.6 — Nostalgia Thread ❤️

I recently found some old Beta 5.2 footage on YouTube and it's wild how different it looked. The sounds, the physics, the map layouts... Does anyone here actually play the old Betas or remember them?

For those too young — old CS had a completely different feel. Guns sounded scarier, movement was more floaty, and the community was maybe 100x smaller but incredibly passionate.

Beta 6.1 was my introduction to CS! The old ak47 sound is still ingrained in my memory — that metallic crack was so satisfying. The game felt more experimental back then, every patch changed everything. We were all learning together. ❤️

The old crosshair system and the way spread worked was so different. I remember spending hours on beta servers that had maybe 8 people on them and everyone was friendly because the community was tiny. 💯 Very different era.

The jump from Beta to 1.0 felt huge at the time. Then 1.0 to 1.3, then 1.3 to 1.6 — each version felt like a different game in some ways. 1.6 was when it really clicked into the polished version we know now. 🏆 Good memories all around ❤️
