Guide: How to Actually Improve Your Aim in CS 🏆
After years of playing and helping newer players, here are the tips that I've seen make the biggest difference:
1. Crosshair placement is king
Always keep your crosshair at head height where enemies are likely to appear. Pre-aim corners, not walls.
2. Counter-strafing
Tap the opposite movement key before shooting to stop your character instantly. This is CRITICAL in CS 1.6.
3. Spray control vs tapping
At long range: tap or burst. At close range: full spray with controlled pull-down. Practice the AK spray on an empty server.
4. Deathmatch, deathmatch, deathmatch
Spend 20 mins in DM before every session. Warm up your hands and eyes.
5. Lower your sensitivity
Most new players play on way too high sensitivity. Lower it, get a bigger mousepad.
