Quick question for more experienced players — I'm helping a friend learn CS 1.6 and wondering which map to start on. de_dust2 is obviously iconic but de_inferno seems simpler site-wise? What did you learn on first?
Dust2 without question. It's simpler in terms of layout, more open sight lines, and every piece of advice you find online (YouTube, guides, old pro demos) will reference it. Your friend will also recognise it from any esports stream they've ever seen. 👍
Agree on dust2 for layout simplicity. Inferno has too many tight angles and the long B apartments can be frustrating early on. Dust2 teaches the fundamentals — mid control, site execution, retake. Start there, expand later. 🙂
Also: play on a low-population public server first, not competitive. Let your friend explore and die a lot before adding the pressure of ranked. The learning phase should be fun! 💯
